Tannat

Tannat (pronounced "tanate") is a grape variety originating from the Pyrenean foothills, which is the success of several appellations in the south-west of France... and at the other end of the world! Capricious, it has original characteristics which make it a grape variety with a strong identity.

A tannic grape variety, as its name suggests

Tannat is distinguished from other grape varieties by its particularly high concentration of phenolic components. These components, which come from its thick skin and especially from its pips, give the wine its rare dense colour and powerful tannins.
