Torrontés

Torrontés is a white Argentinian grape variety of Spanish origin. It crossed the Atlantic at the initiative of the Jesuits in the 18th century. They brought Muscat of Alexandria from Castile to the vineyards of Mendoza. Through crossbreeding, Muscat evolved and prospered under the name of Torrontés along the Andes.
