Savagnin

Savagnin is an emblematic white grape variety of the Jura vineyards. Its origin is not well known. But it is thought to come from the Austrian Tyrol, Germany, Switzerland or Hungary. We don't know how it arrived in Franche-Comté, but it is here that it has found its favourite soil. It is considered to be the king grape variety, from which are made the wines that are so atypical of the Jura vineyards: vin de paille, vin jaune du jura and Macvin.
